This afternoon I’ve been working hard with some wood and screws. Here is the result of all my hard graft:

It just needs to be attached to the metal roof bars now.

Jonny and I have had fun filled afternoon spraying the car. Initially we had planned to create a grid of squares for people to write their name in. However once we started with the lines we quickly realised that we had something that was starting to look a little like a tiger, and so Tony was born. It may not be the most perfect paint job in the world, but hey it adds a bit of comedy to the car. We’ve had some other ideas of things to do to it, so keep your eye out for updates.

Its been quite a while since our last update, we have been busy searching for a car and sorting out our visas, and things are gradually coming together.

Today we have some excellent news! We have finally got a car, and a real beaut she is too, we have a 1.0 litre W reg Vauxhall Corsa in a stunning rusty orange colour. Thanks to Rob at Riverside Cars in Burton for being charitable and giving us a massive discount. So for those among you who didnt think wed actually do it, its happening, we are really going to Mongolia.

So we have the car, were getting the visas, and I am sure you are all aware that we need to raise £1000 for Mercy Corps, one of the rallys chosen charities. That is where you guys can really help us out. If you have got an idea for challenge and are willing to pay £10 to see us do it then feel free to post it on the group wall or message one of us directly.

It’s now 2009 and around 7 months until our adventure begins, so we thought it would be a good idea to get our act together and start putting some real effort into fund raising. To date we’ve managed to raise £220, the vast majority of that figure is thanks to a pledge of £200 from Computacenter (my employer). The other £20 comes from people who have paid up for the challenges they have set, so a big thanks to Toria and Sarah for their donations.

We’ve had quite a few challenges come through the facebook group, some of them were a little morally dodgey though.
